Wattage, ports, GaN tech, USB-C PD — everything you need to pick the right charger.
Match the charger wattage to your device. Phones need 20-30W, tablets 30-45W, laptops 65-100W. A 100W charger can charge any device — it negotiates the right power automatically via USB-C PD.
GaN (Gallium Nitride) chargers are smaller, cooler, and more efficient than traditional silicon chargers. Always choose GaN for anything above 30W.
A single-port charger is fine for travel. For your desk, look for 3+ ports — but check how power is distributed. A "100W" charger with 3 ports typically delivers 65W + 30W + 5W when all ports are used, not 100W to each.
USB-C Power Delivery (PD) is the standard for fast charging. Look for PD 3.0 or PD 3.1 (supports up to 240W). Avoid chargers without explicit PD support — they may charge slowly or not at all with modern devices.
